GOC – Guest speaker is Pam – Gainesville Opportunity Center – Helping low income people improve their skills. Client must have documentation of an illness from a doctor, LSCW, Psych Doctor. They don’t have housing services. 2352-224-3523, goclubhouse.org. They are not a drop in center.
Grace Marketplace – They are working with the oversight board to split dignity village from Grace. They have moved into the new Dorm, 32 beds and they have some vacancies. Must be looking for work to qualify for the dorm. Still working with the City to get the Kitchen going. They have expanded the showers to 8 showers. They tend to give priority to the folks under the pavilion. They also give priority to disabled folks as well. The stay limit is 90 days.
CoC/Coalition Update – ESG Grant – If you are applying for the ESG Grant it is due by next Friday at 3:00 pm. Theresa read the ESG Grant that they are planning on submitting. The general body made a motion (Terry Fleming) and a second (Mark Watson) seconded, to certify the Director, Theresa to sign off on the ESG Grant. Donna Fagan requested that someone step up and be the treasurer for the Coalition. That person does not have to be a CPA.
GPD – Downtown has not changed, the plaza was closed and most of the people have now moved to the clock tower. They have made 10 narcotics arrests. There was a complaint from a homeless person about having to fill out a survey to get services. Theresa said that she thought that was UF. ST. Francis house is now requiring an intake for services. The Hampton was sold and there will be some management changes. The Ashford Group bought them out. The police department has completed its re-organization and Captain Blundell is the person that now supervises the downtown detail. There is a new address for Dignity Village is 3035 NE 28th Drive,, Grace Marketplace is 3055 NE 28th Drive.
Homeless/Formerly homeless – The were some comments from a person who stated she is not homeless as she has a home provided by GRACE Marketplace.
Other business – None
Program Update – New Group Home in Gainesville, New Life Options, they are not recommending this facility as she is taking debit cards from the people and taking their money.
Three Rivers has had an event were they have a lawyer that helps people with basic legal advice. They are planning another event, not sure when.
St. Francis house has a transitional house 367-2600 (Contact Rita) Sunrise Residence Inn, need to working 20 hours a week, applications are available at the St. Francis House.
Free Dental Clinic coming up on May 11th-15th and they will be at Grace at 1:00 PM on May 7th doing paper work.
2618 NW 6th Street Arbor House has a transitional housing facility. 352- 371-2229. Have to work 20 hours a week. Usually stay for up to 6 months or a year.
